Hey folks, just a quick hello. Hello!
Im back in the northern hemisphere where wintery coldness reigns. Australia was so lovely, so hot, so tropical! Its amazing to go home and realise its a paradise! Its taken me a while to see that cos my lust for travel and adventure led me to believe that the grass was greener over here. Well not right now. I am a bit sad about leaving my community, my people, the old gold. But the promise of this years summer tour, the new folk I will meet and the seedling friendships I will grow a little more gives me the inspiration and impetus to keep going. AND... the sun just peeked out this afternoon and me, ruben and Miguel went for a stroll along the river. We are visiting a friend in Godalming, Surrey, and its the peak of winter. Its beautiful in a kind of depressing way, but mainly I just loved how I felt as though I were in a Thomas Hardy novel, or Jane Austen... apparently she lived round here back in the day... I imagined myself being a farmers wife with eleven grotty brats, all stressed out about not having enough coal to last the winter, and seeing the ladies ride by in their coaches and envying them their "loverley dresses" We met a spanish guy down by the river who had come to england to learn english and ended out working two jobs just to pay the rent. One of which is cleaning a school, and he accidentally poured 5 litres of some chemical that he was sposed to only use a cupful of on the floor, and he has gotten very sick from the fumes, his eyes are all puffed up and his skin is burning, he says. So watch that. Read the labels. And if you dont understand, ask someone who does!!!
anyway, hope You All had a fantastic family and friends time over solstice and the new year, and hoping to meet y'all in the flesh as well as cyberspace. Until then, over and out xxx hannah

Hi there everyone, I pulled a little swifty and made a secret visit home with Ruben... we're in the land of Oz! I mean really, why suffer European winter, when its summer just on the other side of the world? Actually all the fuel spent getting us here hurts my lil inner environmentalist, but we made a compromise.... this summer if its not essential travel, we're not going... and trains all the way! So anyway, we're here in sydney, just visiting my cuz and being a bit touristy, then heading up to Byron on sunday, and then Nimbin, to chill out by the creek, write songs and eat mangos.... mmmm I finally got some more summer photos up, just check out the photo pages ... And stay tuned for new tunes, theyre pouring out. Much love xxxx

Hey folks, just a little update.. Im back in granada which has finally let summer be over and the winter begin. It was lovely and warm all through november, all the fruit trees were confused and began flowering as though it were spring. Im holed up in my little flat writing new songs... id put up pictures but they would be very unglamorous... think cameron diaz in being john malkovich, but with a guitar playing the same melody over and over again, talking to herself, scribbling notes on a page... thats me right now. Occasionally I wash my hair and go out to a flamenco club but mostly at home... i dont know if the material is any good, youll have to listen to the next album to know! Anyway, lets survive the winter, (or maybe just take off for australia) as best we can. Much love to you all, stay warm xxx |
